What to expect
Centre Street's actual Victorian buildings do the set design for free. Carolers, street performers, roasted chestnuts, and Scrooge himself wandering the crowd. The ticketed Dickens After Dark masquerade sells out early every year.

Saturday is the peak crush. Island lodging books solid this weekend, so day-trippers should arrive early and park at the edge of downtown. Kids' costumes encouraged, top hats never discouraged.
