Duval County School Calendar 2026-27: Breaks and Days Off

The Duval County school calendar for 2026-27 runs from Monday, August 10, 2026 through Friday, May 28, 2027. Students get a full week at Thanksgiving, 18 days at winter break, and 11 straight days off around spring break. All dates below come from the official DCPS academic calendar.

Every student day off in 2026-27

These are the weekdays DCPS students stay home, in order:

  • September 7, 2026 (Labor Day)
  • October 12-13, 2026 (planning and professional development days)
  • October 30, 2026 (weather day, off unless it's needed to make up a storm closure)
  • November 11, 2026 (Veterans Day)
  • November 23-27, 2026 (Thanksgiving, the full week)
  • December 21, 2026 - January 5, 2027 (winter break plus two staff days)
  • January 18, 2027 (Martin Luther King Jr. Day)
  • February 15, 2027 (Presidents Day)
  • March 11-19, 2027 (two staff days, then spring break week)
  • March 26, 2027 (schools closed, falls on Good Friday)
  • March 29 and April 26, 2027 (weather days, same deal as October 30)

Last day of school is Friday, May 28, 2027. Memorial Day lands the following Monday, which is the district handing families a running start on summer.

The full Thanksgiving week is new

The school board approved the change in spring 2026 after a calendar committee of parents, employees, and community members weighed in. Students are off Monday, November 23 through Friday, November 27. Add the weekends and that's nine days. Somewhere in Duval a grandmother has already started defrosting.

The big breaks at a glance

What about weather days?

Four dates sit on the calendar as insurance: October 30, March 29, April 26, and June 1-2. If a hurricane closes school, the district can convert these into makeup days. If the tropics behave, they're days off. This is Florida's version of a savings account.

Grading periods matter too

Add the weather days to your family calendar as "maybe" days right now. They're the dates most likely to flip on you, and knowing they exist beats finding out from the car line.
