Haunted Houses in Jacksonville: 2026 Guide

An ultra-wide illustration showing different levels of Jacksonville haunted attractions, from tamer ghost tours (left) and farm mazes (center) to the terrifying 13th Floor haunted house (right).

Highlights

  • 13th Floor on Arlington Expressway is the main professional haunt in Jacksonville.
  • Farm haunts and corn mazes run north of the city in Hilliard and Nassau County.
  • St. Augustine ghost tours are walking history tours, not scare attractions.
  • Adventure Landing's Haunt Nights is gone. Older guides still list it.

Jacksonville's haunted attraction season runs from mid September through early November. The main professional haunt is 13th Floor at 9230 Arlington Expressway, which USA Today has ranked among the five most terrifying in the country. Corn maze and farm haunts run north of town, and ghost tours run nightly in St. Augustine and on Amelia Island.

Our haunted house season is longer than our autumn.

13th Floor ran from September 13 to November 8 last year, which is about eight weeks. Jacksonville's average high does not drop below 80 until November. You can be chased through a maze by a man with a chainsaw and still need the air conditioning on the drive home.

How Scared Do You Actually Want to Be?

This is the question every roundup skips, and it is the only one that matters when you are booking for a mixed group. Three tiers, and they are not interchangeable.

Level one: ghost tours. Guided walks through old buildings with stories attached. Nobody jumps out. Fine for most kids over eight and for adults who want atmosphere without adrenaline.

Level two: farm haunts and corn mazes. Outdoor, dirt underfoot, some scare actors. Most run a tamer daytime version alongside the night one, so a family can split the difference.

Level three: 13th Floor. Full professional scare production with sets, lighting, and actors whose entire job is your reaction. The attraction itself advises it may be too intense for kids under 12. Take that seriously rather than as marketing.

13th Floor Haunted House

9230 Arlington Expressway, Jacksonville 32225. Multiple themed mazes each season, plus five minute mini escape games, axe throwing, and a bar for anyone of age.

Tickets are sold by date and time through Tixr, and 2026 dates already on sale include October 15, 21, and 30. Pricing is dynamic and climbs as a date gets closer, so the same Friday costs meaningfully more in the last week than it does in September.

  • Buy early. This is the single biggest lever on what you pay.
  • Pick your ticket type upfront. Fast Pass and Skip the Line are separate purchases, not upgrades you can add later.
  • Weeknights are shorter. Same show, a fraction of the line.
  • Presale vouchers have blackout rules. They are not valid for special events like Blackout or Krampus.

The company behind it runs more than fifteen locations nationally, which shows in the production values and also in how firmly the ticketing works. Nobody is talking their way in at the door.

Haunted Corn Mazes and Farm Haunts

Conner's A-Maize-Ing Acres at 19856 County Road 121 in Hilliard is the closest real corn maze, about 45 minutes north. They add Trick or Treat at the Farm on October 31, running 10:00 AM to 10:00 PM, which covers both the family version and the after-dark one.

A few smaller farm haunts and church-run trails operate in Nassau and Baker counties on the weekends before Halloween. These open and close year to year, so confirm on the operator's own page rather than an aggregator before you drive.

Wear closed shoes. Every one of these is dirt, and a corn maze after an afternoon rain is genuinely a different experience than the one you signed up for.

Ghost Tours in St. Augustine and on Amelia Island

St. Augustine has been running ghost tours for decades on the strength of being the oldest continuously occupied European settlement in the country. Old City Ghosts, Ghost Augustine, and the Old Jail After Dark all operate nightly through October. It is about an hour from downtown Jacksonville.

Fernandina Beach and Amelia Island run their own tours through the historic district, at a smaller scale and usually with shorter groups.

These are architecture walks with ghosts attached, and that is the appeal. Jacksonville has plenty of buildings that would qualify if anyone organized a tour around them, starting with the Union Terminal Warehouse water tower.

The One That Is Gone

Adventure Landing at Jacksonville Beach ran Haunt Nights every October for years. It closed permanently on October 15, 2025, after 30 years at 1944 Beach Boulevard. The St. Augustine location followed on April 12, 2026.

Several current guides still recommend it. It is not there. If you see Haunt Nights on a 2026 list, that list was assembled by someone who has not driven Beach Boulevard lately.

Halloween Falls on a Saturday This Year

October 31, 2026 is a Saturday, and that changes the math on every one of these. Saturday Halloween means the professional haunts run at full capacity, the lines are at their longest, and prices peak.

It also means competition for the night. The Icemen home opener is that same evening against Atlanta, and the neighborhood trick-or-treating window sits right in the middle of everything.

If the haunted house is the priority, do it the weekend before and leave Halloween itself for whatever your household actually wants to do. The show on October 23 or 24 is identical to the one on the 31st, and you will not spend the night deciding between three things.

What to Know Before You Go

  • The last two weekends sell out. The Friday and Saturday before Halloween are the peak, every year.
  • Arrive with the whole group. Timed entry means the late friend waits alone.
  • Skip the heavy costume. Some attractions restrict masks, and you will be warm regardless.
  • Parking is its own cost. Budget for it downtown and at the larger venues.
  • Nobody touches you. That is standard at professional haunts and worth telling a nervous first timer.

Quick Win

Book a Tuesday. The actors are exactly as committed on a weeknight, the ticket costs less, and you will spend twenty minutes in line instead of ninety standing in a parking lot on Arlington Expressway listening to a chainsaw warm up.

We publish a new Jacksonville guide most weeks. The October ones arrive faster.
