20 People, One Plane, Zero Chill: The Jet Pull Coming to Cecil Airport
Share
Here's a sentence I did not have on my bingo card: this fall, teams of twenty are going to grab a rope and drag an actual commercial airplane across a finish line. On a runway. In Jacksonville. For charity.
Yeah. That's a real thing that is happening.
The Jacksonville Speech & Hearing Center is hosting its first-ever Jet Pull Challenge, and honestly it might be the most Jacksonville thing to happen all year. Picture it. A jet just sitting there. A crowd. Twenty people leaning back like their group chat depends on it. The clock running. It's tug-of-war, except the other side of the rope is several tons of aircraft that absolutely does not want to move.
So what's actually going down
The event takes over Million Air Jacksonville at Cecil Airport out on the Westside on November 14. Teams of twenty race to be the first to haul a commercial plane across the finish line. Fastest pull wins. Bragging rights included, sore hamstrings guaranteed.
And this isn't just a gym-bro thing. The Center is inviting basically everyone. Corporate teams. First responders. Military units. Civic groups. Schools. Healthcare crews. Local business squads. If you can round up twenty people and a decent playlist for the parking lot, you qualify.
Why it matters way more than the flex
Here's the part that hits. Every dollar raised goes to the Jacksonville Speech & Hearing Center, a nonprofit that provides speech, language, hearing and literacy services to kids and adults. The big one? They do it regardless of whether a family can pay.
"This event is about more than pulling an airplane," said Chandra Manning, the Center's CEO. "It's about coming together as a community to remove barriers that prevent children and adults from receiving essential speech and hearing services."
So you get a wild story, a team-bonding day that beats another trust-fall retreat, and you're funding stuff that genuinely changes lives. Not a bad trade for a few blisters.
How to get your team in
Registration is open right now and runs through October 30. You lock in your crew of twenty, show up, and pull. That's the whole vibe.
You can sign your team up over at shcjax.org/jet-pull-2026. Do it before your competitive coworker beats you to it, because you know that person is already texting the group.
Start recruiting your strongest friends. Start trash talking the accounting department. Start stretching, maybe. November 14 is going to be loud, sweaty and 100 percent worth it.
See you on the runway!
